Format, beautify and minify JSON with clear, line-aware error messages.
A JSON formatter rewrites compact or messy JSON with consistent indentation so nested objects and arrays are easy to read. It is the quickest way to inspect an API response, a config file, or a saved payload before you edit it by hand.
Formatting runs entirely in your browser. The text you paste is parsed and printed locally, never sent to a server, so it is safe to use with internal data, tokens, or anything else you would rather not share.
Pretty-print a compact API response
Input
{"user":{"id":7,"name":"Ada","roles":["admin","editor"]}}Output
{
"user": {
"id": 7,
"name": "Ada",
"roles": [
"admin",
"editor"
]
}
}Same data, but the structure is now visible at a glance.
Minify JSON before sending it
Input
{
"ok": true,
"items": 3,
"message": "ready"
}Output
{"ok":true,"items":3,"message":"ready"}Minifying strips whitespace, which shrinks request bodies and config files.
No. The document is parsed and printed in your browser with the built-in JSON parser, so nothing you paste leaves your device.
JSON is strict: trailing commas, single quotes, unquoted keys, and comments are all invalid. The tool points to the line and column so you can fix the exact spot.
It reports where parsing fails but it will not silently change your data. You fix the source, then format again.
Everyday files up to a few megabytes are instant. Very large documents may take a moment to parse and format.
Paste or type JSON — it's checked as you type.
